FORMER Northern Ireland defender Chris Baird has had his contract at Derby County extended by the club for a further 12 months in a move that will see him remain at Pride Park until the summer of 2018.
The 35-year-old, whose current two-year deal with the Rams expires at the end of the season, has made a total of 52 appearances for the Championship side since his arrival in June 2015.
The ex-Southampton and Fulham player announced his retirement from international football back in August so he could concentrate on his club career with County.
Baird picked up a total of 79 caps during his 13-years on the international scene, his final appearance in a green shirt coming during the EURO 2106 Finals when Michael O’Neill’s side lost their opening match 1-0 to Poland in Nice.
The Rasharkin man has made a total of 361 career appearances for eight clubs over the past 14-years scoring a total of seven goals.
