Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill has heaped praise on striker Liam Boyce ahead of the team’s forthcoming matches against New Zealand and Azerbaijan.
The Ross County striker finished as top goalscorer in this season’s Scottish Premiership and could be called into international action as Jamie Ward, Conor Washington and Will Grigg are all absent from the Northern Ireland squad.
O’Neill said; “This season he’s [Liam Boyce] been strong, again I think his fitness has gone up another level.
“He’s played a number of positions as well, but to finish as the top goalscorer in Scottish league football with a team that, with all due respect, is in the bottom half of the table, is a huge achievement and he’s rightfully receiving a lot of attention.”
O’Neill also spoke of Shay McCartan’s international call up and the impact the fans have on the team’s performances at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.
