Uncapped Shay McCartan has been called up to Michael O'Neill's senior squad for the upcoming games against New Zealand and Azerbaijan.
Northern Ireland begin their double header of games with a Vauxhall International Challenge Match against New Zealand which is followed by another crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.
The Accrington Stanley striker ended the season strong with six goals in his final ten games and has been rewarded with a place in the squad for the first time.
Whereas fellow forwards Jamie Ward and Conor Washington are both unavailable. Ward is out through injury and Washington due to family commitments.
There is also a return to the international setup for Southend United defender Adam Thompson who earned the last of his two caps to date in 2011.
