Huddersfield Town have swooped to sign Northern Ireland striker Dion Charles from fellow Sky Bet League One side Bolton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee.
The 29-year-old, who scored 57 goals in 149 appearances for Bolton, will now link up with fellow internationals Brodie Spencer and Callum Marshall at the John Smith Stadium after committing himself to the Yorkshire outfit until the end of the 2026-27 season.
Speaking to the Huddersfield website, Town manager and former Northern Ireland international Michael Duff said: “It’s brilliant to see Dion join the club and I’m looking forward to getting to work with him alongside his new team-mates straight away.
“Someone I’ve coached against many times, he is not only a constant goal threat but an incredibly diligent forward, and I believe he’ll complement those around him in the team well within our systems and structures of play.
“Joining us in the prime of his career, Dion’s ambition matches our own and he’s the type of player I know Huddersfield Town fans will want to get behind.”
Charles, who has scored four goals in 28 senior appearances for Northern Ireland, admitted he was excited to get started on the latest chapter of his career.
He said: “I was immediately attracted to the ambition of the club and the prospect of playing my part in getting Huddersfield Town back to where they belong, so I’m delighted to have completed the move and become a Town player.
“In discussions with Mark Cartwright and Michael Duff you get excited about where the club want to be and the levels expected from the players who are here.
“I’ve only heard great things about the club and team from Brodie and Callum,” he added. “And I believe this is the right move for my career and somewhere I can look to push myself to become an even better player.”

Also on the move is veteran midfielder Corry Evans who has signed for National League side Oldham Athletic after being released by Bradford City earlier this month.
“It’s great to finally get it done,” declared the former Manchester United and Sunderland player. “I was in training last week so I’m just really pleased to get it over the line. The club got in touch to see where I was at and if I wanted to come down, and when I came I could see the potential this club has to offer.
“The stadium is great, the pitch is fantastic, so I’m just looking forward to getting started and helping in any way I can.”
Elsewhere midfielder Justin Devenny has signed a new long-term contract with Premier League side Crystal Palace following his breakthrough into the Eagles' first team squad this season.
The 21-year-old, who was formerly with Kilmarnock and Airdrie, has penned a new deal that will see him remain at Selhurst Park until the summer of 2017.
“I'm absolutely delighted,” Devenny told the Palace website. “It’s just another step in my career and like every step there's an opportunity and I'm grateful to have it.
"It's a new step, so a new time to work hard, a new learning experience and a new time to show everyone what I can do.”
