
The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park will be hosting two schools’ cup finals early next month.
The deciders for the Northern Ireland Schools' Football Association Under-16 boys and U16 girls schools’ cup competitions for 2024-25 are both due to be staged at the stadium on Wednesday 2 April.
The U16 girls’ final is scheduled to kick off at 10.30am (30 mins each way and penalties if required), while the U16 boys’ final is set for a 12.45pm start (35 mins each way and penalties if required).
Holders Portadown College will be aiming to win the U16 girls trophy for a second year in a row. They will be facing Antrim school Parkhall Integrated College in the decider.
In the quarter-finals Portadown edged past Belfast school Bloomfield Collegiate on penalties after the game ended three apiece, while in the last four the Co Armagh school defeated Belfast Girls’ Model by three goals to two.
Parkhall had an impressive 6-1 win over Ballyclare High in their last eight tie, and in the last four they put five past Derry-Londonderry school St Mary’s College. The game ended 5-2.
The U16 boys’ final will also feature a Co Armagh side, Craigavon Senior High. They will be up against Belfast’s St Malachy’s College in the decider.
In the last eight Craigavon defeated St Colm’s High School (Twinbrook) 8-0 and in the semi-finals they defeated Omagh CBS by two goals to nil.
Belfast Boys’ Model were beaten 4-3 by St Malachy’s in the quarter-finals before the north Belfast school enjoyed a 4-2 win against Derry-Londonderry school St Columb’s College in the last four.
