Trailblazers Powerchair Football Club are the 2024-25 Association of Irish Powerchair Football (AIPF) Premier League champions.
Trailblazers travelled to TU Dublin Blanchardstown to contest the final round of AIPF league fixtures for the season and the Belfast side claimed the trophy, defeating runners-up Midlands United 4-0 in a dominant display.
Trailblazers knew that a win or draw in their final game would be enough to seal the all-Ireland title and they wasted no time in getting their noses in front. They scored after five minutes with a strike from outside the box from captain Scott Hilland.
With their slender advantage intact at half-time, Trailblazers defended soundly as Midlands pushed for an equaliser before Patrick Cumiskey produced a great individual run to force a defensive mistake and make it 2-0 midway through the second half.
A well worked passing move finished off with conviction by Ethan McCabe before another breakaway goal late on for Cumiskey rounded off a fantastic display.
The clean sheet was goalkeeper Sean McKinney’s 11th of the season.
The result meant Trailblazers were undefeated all season. And the newly crowned champions conceded only one goal during their league campaign.
Afterwards coach Michael Hilland thanked the players for their hard work, dedication and resilience during a busy season.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted for the players, the families and all of those connected with the club.
"It has been a special season and the team thoroughly deserve this success.”
