Crumlin Star and St James' Swifts to meet in Intermediate Cup final

Crumlin Star and St James' Swifts will contest this season's McComb's Coach Travel Intermediate Cup final.

The sides reached the prestigious decider following last four victories on Wednesday evening over Queen's University and outgoing holders Immaculata respectively.

Star, losing finalists last season, got past the Students with a goal in each half at Seaview.

Aidan Lillis fired the NAFL Premier Division side in front as early as the ninth minute, a slender lead they held until Stephen Smyth booked their place in the big showdown five minutes into added time.

Meanwhile, across the city, Swifts released 'Mac's grip on the trophy at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Connor Farrelly opened the scoring for Swifts on 11 minutes, but Immaculata got back on level terms around the hour mark following Daniel McHugh's own goal.

However, Swifts hit back with 10 minutes remaining when Ciaran Hyland bagged what proved to be the winner. Swifts midfielder Jude Winchester was named man of the match.
