McDonald's Fun Football and Davis return to National Stadium

The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park will once again play host to McDonald’s Fun Football this month with a free action-packed football session.

And former Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis, who hung up his boots in January 2024, will once again grace the pitch at the National Stadium as the event’s special guest.

Running from 11am to 1pm on Sunday 27 April, the exciting event is open to boys and girls of all backgrounds and abilities aged between five and 11, offering an inclusive and engaging introduction to football.

Organised in partnership with the Irish FA, the event aims to provide young people with the opportunity to play football in a fun, friendly and pressure-free environment.

Whether it’s their first time kicking a ball or they’re already football fanatics, professional Irish FA coaches will be on hand to guide them through skills sessions, small-sided games and a range of exciting challenges.

Children and families attending the session will also have the opportunity to enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the Irish FA’s Education and Heritage Centre, experiencing the history and heritage of the Northern Ireland football team.

Former Northern Ireland captain and record appearance holder Davis, who represented his country 140 times during an illustrious international playing career, lauded the programme and the opportunities it brings for children in Northern Ireland.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting the kids at the Fun Football session later this month,” he said.

“A career in football starts at grassroots level. That’s how I started myself, so it’s brilliant to see what an amazing impact McDonald’s and the Irish FA are having on communities across Northern Ireland through Fun Football."

And he added: “The inclusivity of the programme is brilliant to see. All boys and girls are welcome, no matter their background or ability, so I would encourage parents to keep an eye on the sessions that are taking place in Northern Ireland across the year.”

Spaces for this event are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so parents are encouraged to register early to secure a place. To book your place, CLICK HERE
