Ardmore and Enniskillen Town United to contest Junior Cup final

Ardmore and Enniskillen Town United will contest this season's fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup final after last four defeats of Raceview and St. Oliver Plunkett II's respectively.

Ardmore, currently leading the North West Junior League, accounted for Ballymena Saturday Morning League outfit Raceview at the Coleraine Showgrounds.

Scoreless at the end of a scrappy first half, Ardmore moved in front just before the hour courtesy of a Patrick Ward header from just outside the six yard box after Gerry King had sent over a great cross from the right.

Matthew Boyd levelled for the Broughshane-based Raceview from the spot with just over ten minutes remaining, awarded following a shove on Scott Montgomery.

Tomas Casey restored Ardmore's lead on nine minutes into extra-time with a stunning curling finish into the top right corner after jinking past a couple of defenders just outside the area.

Darren Crossan then made it 3-1 a few minutes after that with a strike in off the underside of the bar before, right at the end, skipper Jack Higgins (pictured with his man-of-the-match award) calmly slotted home a fourth to book a first appearance in the Junior Cup final in the 47-year history of the club.

At Stangmore Park Enniskillen Town United hit St. Oliver Plunkett II for six to continue the Fermanagh & Western League's long tradition of providing finalists for junior football's showpiece occasion.

Jordan Breen needed just a minute to open the scoring after pouncing on the loose ball when keeper Ryan Sewell failed to hold onto Darren Freeman's initial effort.

Freeman got on the scoresheet himself with just under a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when he stepped inside two defenders to knock home to finish low from Conor Watson's cross.

Nicholas Collen added a third on 39 minutes after Sewell did well to parry Freeman's free-kick before Cathal Beacom made it 4-0 from the spot following a foul on Freeman.

Freeman bagged his second of the evening not long after the interval with a run down the left ending with a finish low into the opposite corner.

Breen then wrapped the scoring up in the closing moments with a scrambled finish at the left post.

The 2024/25 fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup final will take place on Friday 25 April 2025 at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, kick-off 7:45pm.
