The former Larne striker, who won his first senior international cap in the scoreless draw with Belarus earlier this month, continued his fine form for the Dutch second-tier side when he converted from the penalty spot midway through the first half.
Meanwhile, former Dungannon Swifts player Terry Devlin was named man-of-the-match for Portsmouth who suffered their sixth league defeat of the season after losing 2-1 at Fratton Park to Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
Devlin was making his first Championship start for the struggling South Coast club but manager John Mousinho was full of praise for the 20-year-old who was filling in at right-back due to Pompey’s ever-growing injury list.
“Terry’s performance was excellent,” Mousinho told the Portsmouth News. “Moreso when you consider that it was his first Championship start and that he was playing out of position as well.
“I’m really, really happy with Terry’s contribution and I feel he’s going to go and kick on now and go from strength to strength.
“He’s deserved to come back into the side because of what he’s done in training,” added the Pompey boss. “We pick sides off the back of that but Terry’s come in and done really well and he deserved the man-of-the-match award.”
Elsewhere in the Championship defender Trai Hume provided an assist for Sunderland’s opening goal as they stayed top of the division with a 2-0 home win over Ciaron Brown’s Oxford United.
Speaking to the Oxford Mail Brown said: “The result was disappointing. We never want to go anywhere and lose, but I think it’s more the performance.
“I don’t think we were at the levels we should’ve been, and I just think we were off it for whatever reason.”
It was a disappointing weekend for Paddy McNair who was substituted just four minutes into West Brom’s goalless draw with Cardiff City at the Hawthorns after he suffered a suspected hamstring injury.
In the Premier League, Conor Bradley was again missing from the Liverpool squad for the third consecutive game due to a rib injury picked up on international duty.
Goalkeeper Luke Southwood kept his second clean sheet of the season for Bolton Wanderers who also welcomed Eoin Toal back into their starting line-up for the 1-0 home victory over Peterborough United.
Also in League One, Brodie Spencer and Callum Marshall both impressed during Huddersfield Town’s 2-0 win at home to Exeter City while Cameron McGeehan chalked up his first assist of the season as Northampton Town cruised to a 3-0 home success over Crawley Town.
In League Two, Northern Ireland under-21 international Euan Williams made his first league start for Gillingham as the Gills picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Swindon Town.

Finally, 16-year-old Braiden Graham was again on target for Everton’s U18 side while Calum Moreland also found the net as he hit the only goal of the game in Aston Villa’s win at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
