Northern Ireland Under-17 international Calum Moreland has signed his first professional contract with Premier League club Aston Villa.
The central defender, who only turned 17 last Thursday, has impressed the coaching staff at Villa Park since joining the Midlands outfit on a two-year scholarship from Linfield last summer.
“We are delighted to see Calum sign his first professional contract,” Aston Villa Academy manager Mark Harrison told the official club website.
“Calum joined us in the summer from Linfield and has also represented Northern Ireland at youth level. He is a left-sided centre back who has shown a great attitude and worked hard since he joined us.
“It is now important he stays really focused on his development over the next few years.”
Moreland, who is another product of the successful JD Irish FA Academy based at Ulster University Jordanstown, has won six U17 caps for Northern Ireland.
He scored his first international goal at U17 level in October 2022 in a 2-1 win over Malta in the UEFA Euro U17 2023 qualifying round.
