Northern Ireland senior women’s midfielder Rachel Furness gives her reaction to tonight’s 3-2 win over Belarus.
“Overall we’re ecstatic with the three points,” she said. “We set ourselves a job today and we executed the game plan. I think all of us played with our hearts and heads and we gave everything. And we gave everything to get the three points tonight which was the most important thing.”
Kirsty McGuinness was on target early before Belarus hit back. Furness put Kenny Shiels’ side in front again after she was upended in the box but back came the visitors to level for a second time.
The drama didn’t end there. Livewire McGuinness rattled the post and her fierce shot came back off the upright only to hit goalkeeper Vaskabovic and find a way into the net.
