The Irish Football Association, Ulster Rugby and Ulster GAA delivered a Sports Careers Day event recently for BTEC sport students at St Patrick's College, Banbridge.
The focus of the day was based around highlighting the variety of career paths in sport and how young people can give themselves the best possible opportunity as they look towards their future.
Each participant took part in a short mock interview for a job within the sports industry which included PE teaching, sports development, coaching, sports science and fitness instructing.
An overview was provided about the Sports Inspire Awards and the benefits they may offer the young people in giving added value to their CVs.
To conclude the event, development officers from each sporting body shared their career journeys, highlighting the challenges they have encountered as well as providing key advice for the young people to take away.
Thanks goes to Mr Niall Donnelly at St Patrick's College for facilitating the event and to Sarah Aiken from Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council Sports Development team for assisting on the day.
This event was delivered under the Department for Communities programme: Sport – A Home for Lifelong Volunteering.
