Holders Cliftonville Strollers will face Dungannon Swifts U18s in the semi-finals of this season’s Harry Cavan Youth Cup sponsored by Dale Farm Protein Milk.
Cliftonville booked their place in the last four of the competition courtesy of a penalty shoot-out defeat of Maiden City U18s at the Swilly Stadium back in November.
It was 2-2 after extra-time and things were even tight in the subsequent spot kick shootout. It was three apiece after the initial 10 penalties (five per team), however the Strollers eventually prevailed when their keeper, Orann Donnelly, saved the first of Maiden City’s sudden death kicks and the Reds slotted home a fourth penalty.
Last season Cliftonville steamrolled Institute’s U18s in the Harry Cavan decider at Mill Meadow in Castledawson. The final score was 5-1.
Dungannon, meanwhile, reached the semi-finals of this season’s competition thanks to a hard fought 1-0 win over Linfield Rangers.
The other last four tie in the Harry Cavan Youth Cup sponsored by Dale Farm Protein Milk - the draw was made this week - will feature Glentoran Colts and Glenavon U18s.
In the quarter-finals Glentoran Colts defeated Portadown Youth 3-2 to progress, while Glenavon defeated Carrick Rangers U18s 4-2.
The dates, venues and kick-off times for the semi-finals of the Harry Cavan Youth Cup sponsored by Dale Farm Protein Milk have still to be confirmed.
