Northern Ireland under-21 international Caolan Boyd-Munce has committed his future to Birmingham City after signing a new two- year deal with Championship side.
After putting pen-to-paper on his new contract the 21-year-old midfielder, who missed the majority of last season with a thigh injury, spoke to the club’s official website.
“I am delighted! This year has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but since the Gaffer (Lee Bowyer) and Craig Gardner have come in, they have reassured me and sorted everything as quickly as they could.
“The physios last season were unbelievable with their professionalism to get me in condition to finish the season. It was a relief to come back and still be able to perform as I was and, in some cases, even better.
“I feel like I’m in great condition after being away with Northern Ireland,” added the former Glentoran player. “So I hope I can kick on during pre-season and show that I deserve a place. I will get the first few weeks under my belt and then see what happens.”
Boyd-Munce arrived at St Andrew’s from the Glens in the summer of 2016 and made his first-team debut for the Midlands outfit in a Carabao Cup tie against Portsmouth in August 2019, though injuries have restricted him to just six further appearances for the Blues.
He has represented Northern Ireland at all underage levels and won the last of his 13 under-21 caps in the narrow 3-2 defeat to Scotland earlier this month.
