The Northern Ireland squad looked energetic from the beginning and starting the brighter with Leo Brown having the first shot of the game cleared off the line by the Estonian defence.
However it only took a matter of minutes before Northern Ireland took the lead. Harry Robinson floated corner into the box was met with a powerful header by centre back Ian Maxwell to put the home side one up. Northern Ireland continued to press and were rewarded with their second of the game when Harry Robinson played a lovely through ball into the path of Leo Brown who chipped the ball over the onrushing keeper.
Estonia came into the game with good possession and a succession of corner kicks however Northern Ireland defended well. The third goal of the game came 10 minutes before half time when a flowing move from the home side released full back Sean Wallace who whipped a low cross into the box which was diverted into their own goal by the Estonian defender.
Half Time – Northern Ireland 3-0 Estonia
The second half started the same as the first with Northern Ireland on the attack. Harry Robinson worked well on the left cutting inside and striking the bar with a long-range effort. Both sides enjoyed good possession in the second half with little chances created. Northern Ireland did increase their lead half way through the half when a long free kick by substitute Niall Owens evaded both sets of players and nestled into the bottom corner. Northern Ireland keeper Oliver Webber made a fantastic save in the dying minutes of the game to keep a clean sheet for the home side.
Congratulations to both sets of players on a very enjoyable game in front of a packed crowd at Comber rec fc. The teams will meet again on Saturday 9th May at Knockbreda FC, Kick off: 3pm.
