Over 150 young football stars from eight different clubs in Northern Ireland came to Lough Moss Park, Carryduff, to participate in and be crowned the ‘Cross Community Cup’ Champions. Glentoran, Crumlin United and Celtic Boys were amongst the clubs attending the tournament which kicked off early in the morning.
The Carryduff Colts hosted the tournament to bring football clubs and children from all communities across Northern Ireland together to celebrate their love of football. The tournament was also to help raise funds for the Carryduff Colts so they could attend next year’s Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup.
Brian McDowell who ran the event and who is also Sales & Marketing Director of co-sponsors Hughes Insurance commented: “It was a fantastic day for the entire family and a great event for the whole community.
"It really showed there is a lot of support for grassroots football in Northern Ireland and hopefully the Carryduff Colts will be at the Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup next year.
"I’d like to thank all the teams who participated today for making it such a fantastic event and Mills Selig in particular for helping sponsor the tournament.
"We hope that the success of this year’s event will provide the foundation for an annual event which will get bigger each year!”
