The Irish FA Foundation has met with representatives from all 11 councils across Northern Ireland in recent months to update and renew longstanding partnerships.
Irish FA Foundation Director, James Thompson said:
“Linking up with councils is an important area for us.
“The Irish FA Foundation has restructured strategic delivery of its programmes into regional hubs comprising teams of development officers who are working in partnership with local government to advance game, club, coach, school and community development in all council areas.
“Football has a vital role to play in the health and wellbeing, education, employability and community cohesion of our population and we look forward to partnering with all councils to maximise the benefits we can achieve for people across Northern Ireland.”
There are now over 85,000 registered football players in Northern Ireland including over 55,000 youth players, 11,000 girls and women, 1,500 disability club members and 1,000 Irish FA Foundation community engagement programme participants.
