The Northern Ireland senior women’s team will finish their inaugural UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign with a match at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park.
The League B Group 1 game against Republic of Ireland Women is due to be staged at the National Stadium on Tuesday 5 December.
Northern Ireland’s senior women’s team last played at the venue in April 2022 when they took on England in a FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier.
Angela Platt, Director of Women’s Football at the Irish FA, said: “The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park is the home of football in Northern Ireland. It is a place we are proud of and one that is befitting of this fixture.
“We are looking forward to welcoming our neighbours from the Republic of Ireland for what we hope will be a fantastic contest.
“It will also be an opportunity to demonstrate to everyone how far the women's game has come here and how it continues to grow across the island of Ireland.”
Tanya Oxtoby, senior women's manager, said:
"To be back at the National Stadium at Windsor Park for a major senior women's international is testament to the growth of the women's game in Northern Ireland.
"For me, it will be particularly special to manage the team there for the first time. Not only do I feel that the players will benefit from this but our brilliant fans will make it an atmosphere to help the team perform to its peak."
So far in B1 the Republic, who are top seeds, have won all four of their games and have therefore won the group, while second seeds Northern Ireland have won one, drawn one and lost two.
In September Northern Ireland lost their first ever match in the UEFA Women’s Nations League – 3-0 to the Republic in Dublin – before bouncing back to defeat Albania Women 1-0 at home.
Last night they drew with Hungary Women at Seaview. They were defeated by the Hungarians in the first part of a double header last week. It means Hungary are second in B1 with five points from four games, while Northern Ireland are in third on four points.
Prior to the 5 December clash in Belfast, Northern Ireland will have an away game against Albania on Friday 1 December and the Republic will face the Hungarians in Dublin on the same date.
Tickets for the B1 match against the Republic next month will be on sale from today (1 November) at 3pm. They are priced at £14 for adults and £7 for juniors, with groups of 10 or more being discounted to £10 for adults and £5 for juniors.
