Northern Ireland international Rachel Furness has joined Newcastle United Women.
The Magpies completed the signing of Northern Ireland Women’s record goalscorer following the expiry of her contract with Bristol City Women.
Furness (36) has earned 95 caps for her country, scoring 38 goals.
She joined the Robins in January 2023 and helped the club win the Women's Championship title in her first season – a year after completing the same feat with Liverpool.
Born in England’s North East, Furness spent time with Chester-le-Street and Sunderland before spending four years with Newcastle United in the early stages of her career. She has also spent time abroad with Grindavik in Iceland.
On signing for Newcastle United Women Furness told the club website: "To sign for a club I have supported my whole life - coming back home to the North East - is a very proud moment for me. Anyone that knows me knows I bleed black and white.
"I have watched from afar over the years and the ambitions of the club on and off the pitch are something I can't wait to be a part of. I'm excited to meet the team and bring my experience to an already very talented squad."
Becky Langley, boss of the newly promoted Championship team, added: "Rachel has had an excellent career and she will undoubtedly add very good experience to the team. She's a winner and I love that about her.
"She's excellent in the air and an all-round good footballer. We can't wait to see her flourish back at her hometown club."
