Championship side Watford have secured the services of Northern Ireland defender Jamal Lewis on a season-long loan from Newcastle United.
The 25-year-old, who has 30 full international appearances to his name, joined the Magpies on a five-year deal in September 2020 for a fee in the region of £15 million.
His opportunities at St James’ Park have been limited though and in total he has made just 36 appearances for United over the past three seasons.

Injury has also curtailed his game time for both club and country after he required surgery on a groin complaint last March.
“It feels great to sign, and I’m raring to go now,” he told the Watford club website. “I’ve had a good summer, and been away with Newcastle pre-season, but once I heard there was interest from a club like Watford I was delighted.
“Everyone knows the Championship schedule is hectic,” added Lewis. “It can be difficult, but it’s enjoyable too. When you’re winning games and you build up that momentum it’s a brilliant feeling, so I’m looking forward to trying to achieve that this year.”
Born in Luton, Lewis, who qualifies for Northern Ireland through his Mother who hails from Belfast, could be in line for an instant debut for Watford who open their Championship season with a home encounter against Queens Park Rangers on the 5th August.
