Holders Glens progress in Electric Ireland Women's Challenge Cup

Holders Glentoran Women survived an early scare and a late comeback from Lisburn Rangers at the weekend in round two of the Electric Ireland Women's Challenge Cup 2022.

Northern Ireland midfielder Nadene Caldwell cancelled out Rangers’ early opener before Glens skipper Jess Foy netted to fire them in front early in the second session.

Another from Caldwell and striker Kerry Beattie appeared to make the game safe before Lisburn gave the east Belfast outfit an nervy final 10 minutes with two quick goals.

Elsewhere Linfield Ladies hit double figures in a 10-0 win away to Ballymena United FC Women while Larne Ladies defeated Craigavon City Ladies 2-1.

Sion Swifts Ladies hit Lisburn Ladies for six while Crusaders Strikers defeated Mid Ulster Ladies 3-0.

Ballyclare Comrades Ladies and St James’ Swifts Ladies booked their places in the quarter-finals stage thanks to comprehensive victories over Strabane Athletic Ladies and Antrim Rovers Ladies respectively.
