The Irish Football Association’s digital matchday programme for this evening’s FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 qualifier between Northern Ireland and North Macedonia is now live.
The e-programme features Northern Ireland senior women’s team manager Kenny Shiels’ thoughts ahead of the match at Seaview – and his reflections on his side’s record-breaking victory over North Macedonia last week.
In his Manager’s View column in the programme, he says: “I thought everyone performed well in Skopje. I was particularly impressed with Simone Magill. If you take her goals out of the equation, her all-round performance was magnificent. She made a key contribution to the outcome, and she’s a fantastic footballer with lots of good traits.
“I felt Rachel Furness drove us on and we defended the counter attack remarkably well. And big congratulations to Furney on equalling David Healy’s goals record for Northern Ireland thanks to her hat-trick on Thursday. Hopefully she can add to the 36 tonight.
“In the game in Skopje I also thought Demi Vance and Rebecca Holloway formed a good relationship down the left flank, while Rebecca McKenna and Lauren Wade were good on the other side. Lauren was always alert and dangerous. We have got some great combinations there that we can work on.”
In the digital programme there’s a match report from the clash in North Macedonia’s capital which features a line-up picture of the players who netted the goals in the historic win.
It also contains the squad line-ups for both Northern Ireland Women and North Macedonia Women ahead of part two of the double header – plus a welcome to the match from Irish FA President Conrad Kirkwood.
In addition there’s a match report and picture gallery from last month’s home World Cup qualifier against Austria, which ended 2-2 and was also staged at Seaview.
