The Irish FA and the NI Football League (NIFL) note the recent judgement in the European Court of Justice case involving the “European Super League Company”, FIFA and UEFA.
Whilst the ruling does not endorse the "European Super League", both NIFL and the Irish FA continue to be firmly against any such concept. Supporters within Northern Ireland and throughout Europe have made clear their opposition to a "breakaway" competition that compromises the link between domestic and European club football.
We will continue to engage in open and constructive dialogue with all parties, including alongside fellow member leagues of the European Leagues, on how best to protect and enhance the balance of domestic and international club football for the benefit of our member clubs going forward.
Both ourselves and NIFL continue to support both UEFA and its club competitions with the core principle of open competition – earning it on the pitch – both in domestic and international competitions.
