Strength and conditioning coach Gary Wallace joins Ian Baraclough’s backroom team

Northern Ireland senior men’s team manager Ian Baraclough has promoted strength and conditioning coach Gary Wallace to the senior ranks.

The Omagh man had previously worked with Northern Ireland’s U21s, U19s and U17s but will now be part of the backroom team who look after the senior men’s players.

Wallace, who is director of Core NI Kids, a company which promotes active healthy lifestyles, worked alongside Ian Baraclough when he was the Northern Ireland U21s boss.

To be part of, and witness first-hand, the development of some of our finest young talent and now having the opportunity to work with them at senior level is something I will be forever grateful for.

Wallace has also worked as a primary schools coach with the Irish Football Association and was involved with the association’s Club NI elite player development programme before going on to work with the U17s and U19s and then the U21s.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity," Wallace told irishfa.com

"It has been an amazing journey so far from starting my coaching career with the Irish FA as a primary school coach the whole through the Club NI level and underage internationals. To be part of, and witness first-hand, the development of some of our finest young talent and now having the opportunity to work with them at senior level is something I will be forever grateful for.

"To work alongside the likes of Ricky McCann and all the coaching team is an added bonus. The knowledge and experience that this team has is second to none. I want to add value in any way I can to this already successful coaching team and group of players."
