The Irish FA’s National Coaching Certificate (formerly Level 1) kicked off on Friday.
A three-day NCC course at Playball, Stormont, is the first of several deliveries of the programme across Northern Ireland over the coming months.
Open to anyone 16 and over, the NCC prepares coaches to facilitate and organise sessions within the grassroots game.
The award is split into two aspects:
- Coaching children and young people (5-12) under the supervision of a more qualified coach in the grassroots game in Northern Ireland
- Facilitating coaching sessions and supporting a more qualified coach within the coaching of adults in the grassroots game in Northern Ireland
Candidates will also learn to understand their role as a coach and the importance of facilitation, organisation, safeguarding and health and safety.
Other areas covered includes session design, coaching context, reflective practice and adult learning principles. More details here
