Lisbellaw United 2-0 Limavady United Drummond
Today's "Tie of the 5th Round" was switched from Lisbellaws home ground to the Lakeland Forum in Enniskillen due the pitch in Lisbellaw not being available and in the end it was a great decision due to the inclement weather that both teams and their supporters had to endure.
The game started with Limavady having early control but it didn't take Lisbellaws players to come back on level terms.Tackles were flying in at ground, waist and head hight.
In an end to end game the both sides had chances on goal but just couldn't find the final touch and much of this was due to the gale that was blowing around the pitch,we even had a hail storm .
As half time approached the heavens opened and it was a credit to both sides that they played the 1st half out.
Half Time: Lisbellaw United 0-0 Limavady United Drummond
The teams turned round in 5 mins and the storm had passed weather wise but Lisbellaw came out like a bolt of lightning when a pass with plenty of pace from Lisbellaws number 11 David Little took an awkward bounce in the 6yrd box and beat the keeper from a acute angle who could only see the ball find it's way into the back of the net after just 2 mins.
Both teams started to play a better standard of football and the second half saw better chances both from long range and intricate moves in the 6yrd box but the score still showed that Lisbellaw where on top and it was "Man of the Match" Gareth Carruthers hard shift at left back that kept Lisbellaw in front.
On the 85th min a goalmouth scramble in the Limavady goalmouth saw Lisbellaw's no 7 Paul McGrath net at the near post.
With the game more or less over Lisbellaw almost made it 3 but saw the shot go wide of the post.
The final whistle went and this saw Lisbellaw into the next round draw of the Irish FA Junior Cup.
