A Service of Thanksgiving for Billy Bingham MBE is set to be live streamed by the Irish FA.
Bingham, who passed away at the age of 90 last year, holds a special and unique place in Northern Ireland footballing history, having played for and managed his country in World Cup final tournaments.
He was part of Peter Doherty’s side which reached the last eight in Sweden in 1958. He was then in the manager’s hotseat at both Espana ’82 and Mexico ’86.
He will be remembered at a special service in St Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast on Wednesday morning.
The memorial service is set to be led by the Dean of Belfast, Very Rev Stephen Forde, with music provided by Master of Music Jack Wilson, Belfast Community Gospel Choir and pianist Ian Hannah.
Former Northern Ireland captain Martin O’Neill will give a tribute to Bingham and Gerry Armstrong, who famously netted against Spain in 1982, is also set to participate in the service.
The stream will be available on the Irish FA’s YouTube channel from 11.15am with the service set to begin at 11.30am.
