Northern Ireland’s senior women’s team will begin their quest for a place at the next Women’s World Cup in Larne.
It was confirmed today that Inver Park, home of Larne FC, will host Northern Ireland’s first game of their FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 qualification campaign next Friday (17 September).
Luxembourg are set to be their opponents in the European Qualifying Group D clash – and it will be Luxembourg’s first ever fixture in a full qualifying stage for a major tournament.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow and are priced at £10 (adults) and £2 (children, aged under 16), while GAWA Official members will get a half price discount code.
The game in Larne is the first of a Group D double header for Kenny Shiels’ side as they will also face Latvia at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park the following Tuesday (21 September). Both matches will kick off at 19.45.
Shiels is set to announce his 23-strong squad for the two home qualifiers tomorrow.
The other teams in European Qualifying Group D are England, Austria and North Macedonia.
After the two games this month Kenny Shiels will prepare his side for a trip to Wembley where they are due to face top seeds England on 23 October and then it’s back home for a qualifier against Austria, the second seeds in the group, on 26 October.
