Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis looks ahead to tomorrow’s FIFA World Cup qualification opener against Italy.
On the eve of the game the experienced midfielder gave his thoughts on the challenge ahead in Parma and also talked about his chance to reach another milestone – equalling Peter Shilton’s UK record of 125 international caps.
“It couldn’t have been a tougher start but obviously we’re looking forward to a new campaign and we’ve got to have ambition about going and trying to achieve something. If we manage to get a positive result tomorrow night it would stand us in good stead moving forward," Davis said.
“We’ve got people playing well at their clubs and playing regularly which is important and it’s good to see the strikers playing with confidence and finding the net.”
