Hull City have announced the signing of Northern Ireland international Gavin Whyte on loan from Cardiff City.
The move will see the 24-year-old, who has 10 international caps and two goals to his name, link up with Northern Ireland frontman Josh Magennis.
Head Coach Grant McCann, a former Northern Ireland midfielder, said: “Gavin will bring pace, energy and directness. He likes to get the ball and run at people.
We’re delighted to get him and there was a lot of competition for him. We’re delighted he’s chosen us and he’ll get the fans off their sofas because he’s direct and likes to get at people
“He’s a full international and had a good time in Northern Ireland, a really good time at Oxford and followed that up with a move to Cardiff."
He added: “We’re delighted to get him and there was a lot of competition for him. We’re delighted he’s chosen us and he’ll get the fans off their sofas because he’s direct and likes to get at people.”
Whyte enjoyed a hugely successful spell with NIFL Premiership club Crusaders between 2014 and 2018 before making the switch to League One Oxford in July 2018.
His good form there led to a move to parent club Cardiff City where he played 30 games in all competitions last season as the Bluebirds reached the Championship play-offs after finishing fifth.
At international level, Whyte scored with his first touch on his debut against Israel and also netted the leveller in Northern Ireland's 2020 UEFA Nations League opener away to Romania.
Whyte's move to the KCOM Stadium, which is until the end of the season, is subject to international clearance.
