Four games in the Tennent’s Irish Cup sixth round will take place tonight with coveted places in the quarter-finals of the competition up for grabs.
Glenavon, who eased past Amateur League Rosemount Rec in round five, will face a sterner test this evening as they welcome Dungannon Swifts to Mourneview Park. Kris Lindsay’s men go into the game on the back of a fine 1-0 league win over Crusaders on Saturday.
Whoever comes out on top in this one will have home advantage in the last eight and will take on the winners of the tussle between Ballinamallard United and Carrick Rangers, who go head-to-head at Ferney Park.
Larne Tech. Old Boys will be keeping close eye on the outcome of Warrenpoint Town’s tie with Queen’s University. Should the students overturn the Danske Bank Premiership club, they would face a trip Dennis Harvey Park to take on Johnny Hastings’ men. But if Warrenpoint win, then it’s a road trip to Milltown for the Amateur League outfit.
At the Showgrounds, Ballymena United will welcome Championship side Portadown. The Ports go into the tie on the back of a home league defeat to Larne while the Sky Blues are fresh from victory over Institute at the Brandywell. The winners of this one face a daunting trip to Crusaders, conquerors of Linfield on February 2.
All of tonight's ties are scheduled to kick off at 19:45.
