The day entailed 5 aside matches between Movilla High School, Glastry College, Nendrum Intergraded College, Bangor Academy and Priory College for girls in year 8/9 and year 10/11.
Organiser Jackie Blyth, Irish FA Women’s Football Development Officer, said: “Schools football is a key aspect of introducing girls to football including promoting local clubs and giving girls the opportunity to play against other Schools”.
Ashley Hutton Northern Ireland Senior Women’s Captain and local school coach came down to watch the matches and inspire the girls into joining a club outside school. Ashley said, "It was great to see so many girls from my home town playing football. Football has given me many great experiences and trips throughout the world. I want to encourage as many girls as possible to go along to their local club and get involved”.
