Northern Ireland’s senior women’s team boss Tanya Oxtoby is happy with the opposition her squad will face in the league phase of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers.
“I am really, really happy in terms of our group. It looks like a really good mix of opponents,” she said.
Northern Ireland have been drawn in League B Group 3 along with Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Malta.
The four teams will face each other home and away across six matchdays between April and July. Fixtures are due to be confirmed later today/early tomorrow.
Oxtoby further said: “I’m really excited to see what our first round of games is going to be.”
Portugal are top seeds in the group, while Bosnia are second seeds.
Northern Ireland were in Pot 3 for the League B draw – it was staged at UEFA HQ in Switzerland today – and Malta were in Pot 4.
The matchdays in League B Group 3 will be in April, May/June and July.
The top two teams in each League A group will gain places in the July 2025 finals alongside hosts Switzerland (who will compete in League B although their automatic qualification is assured). The remaining seven spots will be decided by two rounds of play-offs in October and November/December.
