Corry Evans

CORRY Evans followed his elder brother Jonny into the senior Northern Ireland team when manager Nigel Worthington gave him his first cap in an end of season friendly against Italy in June 2009 just short of his 19^th birthday.

Although he had still to sample first team football at Old Trafford the midfielder collected a further five caps before being given his first competitive outing in September 2010 in a EURO 2012 qualifier in Slovenia.

Evans, who has played at every age level for Northern Ireland, made quite an impact in that game when he came on as a substitute to score the only goal of the game with his first touch of the ball!

He has played numerous internationals alongside his brother Jonny, but the first time they appeared together in a senior game was in August 2010 when Corry came on as a second-half replacement for Martin Paterson in the 2-0 defeat to Montenegro.

After being released by Manchester United without making a competitive appearance Evans signed on the dotted line for Championship club Hull City in the close season of 2011.

Two years later Evans was on the move again when he joined Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

He put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half year contract in November 2015 that ties him to Ewood Park until the summer of 2019. His stay at Rovers would then run for a further two years.

In July 2021 Evans joined Sunderland as a free agent on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
