Local Clubs All Start At Home In Europa League

Linfield were the only local team to be seeded going into the draw and could have been paired against a number of sides from across Europe. However, for the fourth year running Linfield will be travelling to the Faroe Islands having been drawn to play against NSÍ Runavík who make their return to Europe after a two year absence. The first leg will see Linfield host the Faroe Islands side on 2 July while the second leg will take place on 9 July, both games having a 7:45pm kick off.

Glenavon, who were unseeded, were drawn to play against FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk of Belarus, with the first leg at Mourneview Park on 2 July and the away leg taking place one week later on July 9. Austrian side Wolfsberger AC await the winners in the nest round. Once again, Glenavon would host the first leg.

Glentoran, who qualified for the first qualifying round of the Europa League due to winning the Irish Cup have been drawn to face Slovakian side MŠK Žilina who finished second in their league last season. Once again Glentoran have been drawn to play at home first, with the first leg taking place on July 2 at the Oval. The return leg will then take place one week later on 9 July. The winning side from this tie will progress into the second qualifying round and face the winners of KF Renova and FC Dacia Chisinau. Glentoran have previously played against KF Renova having beaten the Macedonian side on penalties in the first qualifying round of the 2011/12 Europa League.

Linfield and Glenavon both qualified having finished second and third respectively, in the Danske Bank Premiership, while Glentoran secured qualification by winning the Irish Cup.
