IRISH FA TV met with Northern Ireland legend Stephen Craigan ahead of the senior menís game against Portugal in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Craigan, who won 54 caps for his country, knows how hard the game will be for Northern Ireland in Oporto. “Any game in international football is difficult, but when you go to one of the bigger nations like Portugal, you can prepare as much as you want with your shape, your formation, your organisation and the players can have all the information they need, but the worry is when you come up against individuals who can do something extraordinary on the night,” said the Ards man.
“The aim is to go there and try to nullify the opponents and keep your shape, whilst also trying to get a few changes yourselves during the game. We will spend a long time without the ball, but I know that we just need one positive result to kick things off for Northern Ireland and Michael O’Neill.”
