ASSISTANT referees Tom McKnight and Ken Ross from the North East Ulster Referee’s Association have jointly been awarded the IRN BRU IRN Man Award for the First Round
The Two Officials found themselves stepping up to the mark after referee Ken Gibbons unfortunately dislocated his elbow minutes into the Sport & Leisure Swifts V’s Wakehurst game on 14th August.
Tom McKnight stepped in for his injured colleague and refereed the rest of the match whilst Ken Ross found himself running the line.
This innovative award aims to recognise and celebrate the dedication and commitment of the (often unsung) hero’s of local football in the IRN BRU League Cup.
The IRN Man Award will be presented after each round of this season’s competition.
