U21s GET READY FOR MACEDONIAN CHALLENGE AT THE OVAL

Release Date: 07/09/2012

Stephen Robinsonís men take on Macedonia in tonightís Under 21 European Championship clash at the Oval (7.45pm).

Northern Ireland, who currently sit fourth in Group 4 will be eager to take on a Macedonia side who they narrowly lost to in their away fixture in Skopje, conceding a late penalty in a 1-0 defeat.

Robinson, however, is relishing this reverse fixture and is looking forward to tackling the Macedonians on home soil.

“Having narrowly lost in the away game, the squad is keen to establish themselves and get a good result on home soil. We were disappointed with the outcome of the previous game. Conceding a penalty so late on was hard to take considering how well we performed. It will be interesting to see how well the lads bounce back against the same opposition,” said the manager.

With home fixtures being an advantage, we would encourage all Northern Ireland fans to get down to the Oval to support our future stars. With players such as Ryan McGivern, Shane Ferguson, Corry Evans and Oliver Norwood rising from the U21 set up to join with the senior side, fan support is invaluable for our senior squad players of tomorrow.

Entrance to the game is free.
