THE Irish FA and Ulster GAA have recently appointed a consultant to carry out an evaluation of joint project, ‘Sport in the Community’ (funded by the Department for Social Development).
Dr Barbara McCabe will carry out a three year evaluation, measuring both the quantitative and qualitative impact of this project which is focused around club community and volunteer development. Barbara will be working closely with both Irish FA and Ulster GAA staff involved in this project, and other stakeholders including the joint steering panel, football and GAA clubs and volunteers.
Dr Barbara McCabe said: “Volunteers are the backbone of many community-based organisations, especially sports clubs. I am looking forward to charting the development of this project and to recording how they support the greater involvement of volunteers and the development of these volunteers’ skills.”
