Prior to kick off in the recent encounter between Northern Ireland and Finland, International partners Marie Curie presented referee Richard Liesveld (Netherlands) with the match ball. Marie Curie Cancer Care cares for people with terminal cancer and other life limiting illnesses in their own homes across Northern Ireland and in the Marie Curie Cancer Care hospice in Belfast.
Geoff Wilson, Head of Marketing and Communications at the Irish FA said, “We are delighted to have Marie Curie on board as our official charity and would like to thank them for their participation at the match on Wednesday. Marie Curie does a fantastic work in our community and we want to continue to support their fundraising efforts over the next 6 months.”
Anne Hannon, Fundraising manager from Marie Curie said, “Last night’s International match between Northern Ireland and Finland was another great opportunity to heighten awareness of the Irish FA’s partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care and thank you for to all involved for making this happen. Our nurses said it was a privilege to be on the pitch at Windsor Park and wanted to thank all who have supported Marie Curie Cancer Care so far and thank you to all the wonderful Northern Ireland and Finland fans who gave generously last night.”
