NORTHERN Ireland U21s put up a brave display tonight in Tatabánya but eventually lost to their Hungarian hosts.

András Gosztonyi put Hungary in front after 19 minutes with a shot from the left into the bottom corner.

But Northern Ireland levelled before the break through Derry City's Shane McEleney with a right-wing free-kick past 'keeper Peter Gulácsi.

Hungary regained the advantage three minutes into the second half, however, with a close range Greg Beliczky finish before András Rádo made it 3-1 on 62 minutes after connecting with a corner from the right.

Beliczky might have added a fourth in the 89th minute with a shot against an upright but James Gray did pull one back for Stephen Robinson's side four minutes into added time with a successfully converted spot-kick.

Northern Ireland: Devlin, Thompson, McKeown, Jones, Hegarty, McEleney, Ball, Mitchell, Gray, McAlinden, Dallas subs Glendinning, McGuinness, McDaid, McCashin, Robinson, Boyce, Winchester
