FOOTBALL fever continued in Newcastle with a third week of football in the seaside town.
50 young footballers enjoyed five days of a fun packed camp with the blue skies shining down on the back drop of the Mourne Mountains.
The seaside town welcomes visitors from across Northern Ireland and further abroad with many taking the opportunity to play football and make new friends by participating in the Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools.
Last week was no exception with guests from Cambodia, Dublin and Belfast mixing with our local young footballers.
Delivering the camp was local Irish FA Grassroots Development Officer Seamus Heath, who is still so enthused after20 years of developing young footballers in his adopted home district of County Down.
Seamus commented: “This week’s camp was extra special with some quality young players on show and the district’s visitors added freshness to it all.”
Young Alex Abrams from Cambodia expressed his delight at the week’s event. Alex said: “My brother James and I loved every minute of the week. We learnt so many new skills and made some fantastic new friends. We can’t wait to tell our friends back home.”
The Irish FA Nutty Krust Summer Soccer Schools continue this week with Crossgar being the venue followed by Newcastle.
