SATURDAY 4 August marks the launch of the long awaited new Belfast Celtic Trail.
Planned by the Belfast Celtic Society and funded by the Irish Football Association, with support from the Special European Programmes Body, under the Peace III measures, the trail has begun to take shape along the Falls Road.
Irish FA Head of Community Relations, Michael Boyd, said: "We are delighted to support this innovative and creative initiative as part of our Peace III funded Football For All Community Relations Project."
Irish FA Chief Executive, Patrick Nelson, added: "Football in this part of the world has a rich and shared cultural heritage. The Belfast Celtic trail is a great celebration of this.”
A special bus tour has been arranged for August 4, as part of Feile an Phobail, the West Belfast Festival, leaving the Falls Library at 10.00am and visiting each stop on the trail. For those travelling on the tour, a special tour guide has been arranged, with Irish actor Gerard Jordan raising the ghost of Charles Patrick Tully to bring the history of Belfast Celtic to life!
