16 teams from the Mid Ulster, Castlereagh, Cookstown and Lisburn Games Development Centres came along to Brownstown Park, Portadown for a festival day as part of the celebrations for the Olympic torch passing through Portadown.
This was also part of the IFA McDonalds Games Development centre programme. The 16 Under 8 teams played small sided games against each other and despite the weather had a very enjoyable day.
Bangor Rangers, Cookstown Youth, Moira, Lisburn Rangers joined local sides Portadown Youth, Lurgan Town, Loughgall, Tandragee Rovers and Dromore on the day.
The festival was organized by Keith Gibson, IFA Grassroots Development Officer for Craigavon, Armagh and Banbridge. Keith commented “Apart from the weather this was a great day for our young players. Playing on a fantastic new 3g facility, clubs were able to pit their skills against clubs from other centres and also be part of the London 2012 games. A big thanks to all the coaches who brought their teams along on the day and played in such a sporting manner”
