Portadown produced a tremendous performance to gain what could be a valuable 0-0 draw away to Macedonian side Shkendija in the Europa League.
Playing in temperatures over 90°F, Ronnie McFall’s side were steady and composed throughout the game, and despite the heat they remained focused until the final whistle to keep that vital clean sheet against a dominant home team.
David Miskelly produced a string of fine saves and the defence of Ross Redman, Garry Breen, Chris Casement and Brian Gartland withstood a late onslaught to give the Ports a real chance of making it into the next round with a victory in the return leg in seven days time.
The second leg will be played at Shamrock Park, Portadown on Tuesday 10 July.
