ENGLAND ARE COMING

Release Date: 24/09/2012

England Under 16 Manager Kenny Swain has assembled a strong squad for the opening game in this seasonís Sky Sports Victory Shield against Northern Ireland at Stangmore Park Dungannon on Thursday night, kick off 7.35pm.

The English squad is packed with players from the Academy teams of the top Premiership clubs.

Northern Ireland Manager Desi Curry is under no illusions about the task facing his young team.  “Undoubtedly England will start as favourites but we go into the game brimming with confidence after two 2-0 wins over Finland last week.  The last time Northern Ireland did the double over Finland the team defeated England 1-0 in their next game and went on to win the Victory Shield.  I hope that history will be repeated on Thursday night.  This is as talented a group of players as we have had for some years.  The defence was very solid against the Finns while it’s been some time since a Northern Ireland striker scored 3 goals in two games as Andrew Mooney did.  With the backing of a vociferous home crowd to spur the boys on we can make things uncomfortable for the English” added Curry.

The game will be televised live by Sky TV.  Any school or youth group wishing to attend the game can obtain a group pass by emailing edwinferris@yahoo.co.uk.
