WALK OUT AS A McDONALD’S PLAYER ESCORT AT UPCOMING NI INTERNATIONALS

Release Date: 16/07/2012

McDonald’s has introduced a new grassroots football website called ‘Kickstart’ where people can apply for their child to receive a place as a McDonald’s Player Escort and walk out hand-in-hand with the Northern Ireland team at upcoming home Internationals.

McDonald’s is celebrating ten years of driving grassroots football in Northern Ireland and Kickstart is a new element within this comprehensive programme of support.  The website contains useful information for grassroots football including access to funding, coaching information, details of how to run a club, as well as the opportunity to apply for unique experiences like Player Escort places.

Northern Ireland play Finland on 15th August before their World Cup Qualification campaign gets underway against Luxembourg on 11th September and Azerbaijan on 14th November and you could win one of 33 places place for your child to walk out with the team at Windsor Park for one of these games.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience involves a child aged 7 to 11 coming onto the pitch with one of the NI players at the start of the game.  The prize also includes a match ticket for both parent or guardian and child alike, a full national team kit and a McDonald’s IFA goodie bag.

Goalkeeping legend Pat Jennings is McDonald’s Head of Northern Ireland Football and he outlined what the Player Escorts can expect:  “Walking out at Windsor Park is a very special occasion and I’m sure all the children will thoroughly enjoy the experience.  We have a new manager in place so I’m sure the players will be out to impress and hopefully our Player Escorts will see some good Northern Ireland performances.”

“Our Player Escort programme forms an integral part of McDonald’s Community Partnership with the Irish FA which is celebrating ten years and is delivering a lasting legacy of benefit through coach creation and education, a new Club Accreditation Scheme, our McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards and through regional Small Sided Games Centres.”
