Release Date: 30/08/2012
A First Kicks Development Night will take place on Friday 7 September at the Boys Brigade Pitches (Belvoir Drive, Castlereagh).
The event which is free of charge will run from 6pm-8pm and is for girls aged 6-11.
The First Kicks Development Centre is part of a comprehensive new programme to develop participation in and support of, girls football in Northern Ireland. This initiative will provide girls from the age 6–11 years with the opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity. The small sided games model is an effective method for developing ball skills and game awareness because it increases opportunities for players to have contact with the ball and to both attack and defend. Players will be put into 5-a-side teams who will play each other in a non-competitive environment.
The event will also promote the UEFA European Women's Under 17 Championship 2012/13 Qualifying Round Group 2 mini tournament which is being hosted by Northern Ireland from September 10-15. There will be free tickets given out on the night for the mini tournament games along with prizes, so why not come along and join in the fun.
