THE Irish FA has launched a new project supported by Comic Relief, ‘Beyond Football’ at Belfast Street League’s weekly football session.

The funding from Comic Relief will help provide support for Belfast Street League and Women’s World United over the next three years. ‘Beyond Football’ will include a range of activities such as focus months, residentials, joint tournaments, joint learning and information sharing opportunities, Derry~Londonderry Street League, and accredited training.

This exciting project will help to support the development and sustainability of these grassroots projects by using football as the tool to address key social issues facing communities such as health, alcohol and substance abuse, marginalisation, unemployment, and social integration.

Irish FA Head of Community Relations, Michael Boyd, said: “ ‘Beyond Football’ is a positive opportunity for both groups to engage in an exciting and comprehensive three year programme.  We are delighted to have the support of Comic Relief and look forward to building our partnership over the coming months.”
